This NEO application, NEO LOAC (Local Organisations Against Crime), is a secure web based platform designed to share data between community safety teams, police and local business to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour.
Shopkeepers sign in to a web based portal to access the latest news on local criminal activity and pictures of suspects.
Community safety teams use the database to disseminate information quickly and in a secure manner, manage registration fees and improve communication with the businesses they support.
LOAC customers have their own dedicated website which acts as a conduit for information to and from the council relating to offenders and shoplifters. The website supplements the work being done in person by the LOAC co-ordinators. It enables customers to access key information about services in their area, e.g. information about LOAC co-ordinators and local police. Additionally, it contains information about offenders, shop lifters and related news as well as giving LOAC customers the ability to report issues, incidents or events to LOAC or other members of the scheme.
The website is easy and intuitive to use and is accessible to people of varying IT literacy. As a result, the layout has the minimum amount of text necessary and is visually rich, i.e. as much of the functions and navigation within the web-site are ‘point-and-click’.
